Now I found it (at intrade.com): Expiry will be based on data reported by the U.S. Department of Commerce (Bureau of Economic Analysis, Table 1.1.1, "Percent Change From Preceding Period in Real Gross Domestic Product") as reported by the BEA

"US GDP for Q3 of 2008 will be positive." Since GDP is always positive, as it is a measure of value added, then this is a no brainer. What they mean to say, is the Growth Rate of US GDP for Q3 will be positive, but then they need to specify the 1-year change or the change from Q2. I can't seem to find the explanation of the contract that says what is being bet on.
